When I reflect on my journey in the world of music and education, it’s clear that traditional pathways aren’t the only routes to success. I completed my education at Salem State University, a school that may not carry the prestige of other elite institutions, but my experience there was instrumental in shaping my career as a coach for aspiring musicians at some of the top music schools.

My path began at a more expensive university, but the reality of student loans made me reconsider my options. I wanted to avoid the burden of debt, so I transferred to Salem State University, where I worked tirelessly to develop my skills as a musician and educator. While many of my friends pursued BFA Musical Theatre and Acting programs, I found myself deeply involved in their audition processes, even coaching a few of them on their monologues and song performances during my senior year. It's funny how, even then, I was taking on the role of a teacher.

After college, my journey didn’t stop. I pursued further education in worship music at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, honing my craft as a voice teacher, church musician, and educator. My thirst for knowledge drove me to study voice science through books and workshops, earning certifications from New York Vocal Coaching and the Lovetri Method. I believe that continuous learning is vital for any educator.

I watched many of my friends find success on Broadway, in film, and on tour, while I ventured into performing myself during a brief stint at Walt Disney World through the Disney College Program. Yet, amid the enchantment of Disney, I found myself missing the joy of teaching and nurturing others' talents.

Throughout my career, I never stopped learning. I challenged myself to explore new musicals and arias, wanting to build a repertoire that would serve as a comprehensive resource for my students. My passion for education and my dedication to my craft fueled my desire to bridge the gap between my unconventional background and the elite music world.

The experience I gained as a “ring manager” during college auditions further equipped me with invaluable insights into the audition process. Over the years, I have had the privilege of mentoring, coaching, and advising hundreds of students as they navigated their pathways to success. The results speak for themselves, with many of my students gaining acceptance into prestigious institutions such as the Boston Conservatory, Ithaca College, NYU, Point Park University, Molloy College, Long Island University, AMDA, and Hartt School.

While I may not have had the means to attend these elite institutions myself, what I bring to the table is knowledge, experience, and a deep understanding of the college audition landscape. My journey may have been unconventional, but it has equipped me with the tools and perspective necessary to guide the next generation of talented musicians toward achieving their dreams.

In the end, it’s about passion, dedication, and the unwavering belief that success can come from every corner, regardless of where you start.
